Kähler Gingerbread is a modern gingerbread house from Kähler, where the combination of a charming expression and handmade design traditions meets the warmth of the tealights creating both style and coziness - aka "hygge" on the dark December evenings.

The gingerbread house is a real Christmas cookie classic that comes in different versions in many countries. If you have once tried to embark on the art of gingerbread-house-making yourself, you will know that it is not quite that easy – but with Kähler Gingerbread you are sure of being a success and to top it all off, featuring extra Christmas spirit in your home with the light flowing out of the hand-carved windows of the lighthouse.

The lighthouses come in two varieties and have a brown, matte exterior similar to gingerbread dough. They are decorated with white, shiny decorations and have white roofs like frosting. As an important detail, the gingerbread houses are white glazed inside reflecting the warm light from the tealight to illuminate the surroundings outside the house.

Bache and Bendix Becker

Mette Bache and Barbara Bendix Becker both graduated from the Danish School of Design in 1996 and have since become the design duo R7B Copenhagen.

Mette Bache and Barbara Bendix Becker have worked for many years with a number of well-known companies and various exhibition projects. Recently, the two designers have discovered the endless possibilities of ceramics, and they both have a passion for reinterpreting old objects and giving them new life through a contemporary design. And when it comes to handmade design traditions, ceramics are a fantastic material to work with.

For example, all Kähler's Urbania candle houses are designed by Mette Bache and Barbara Bendix Becker. They are known for their special design where the building’s tight silhouette creates space for creativity in the design of each window. The duo also designed the Nobili series, which puts Kähler's ceramic DNA and the Nordic Christmas into a common design formula. Both the Urbania series and the Nobili series have become modern classics.

Kähler of Denmark
KÄHLER – HANDMADE AND TRADITIONAL DANISH DESIGN CERAMICS SINCE 1839

The story of Kähler begins as early as 1839, when the Dutch potter Herman J. Kähler opens a small ceramics workshop in Næstved and turns the first Kähler vase. It marks the start of a unique design adventure that will one day resonate around the world. However, it is only when his son Herman A. Kähler takes over the famous workshop in 1875 that the ceramic adventure really begins.

Craftsmanship, creativity and artistic collaborations have been part of Kähler's DNA since the beginning. And they still are. It's what has made Kähler an iconic ceramic brand, one which has charted the course of Danish ceramic design.

We create all our products based on Kähler's handmade design traditions. We've always done that—and we always will.
