Prince Sigvard Bernadotte was a great designer as well as the son of Swedish King Gustav VI Adolf. Prince Sigvard designed a rather large collection of silver goods throughout his long career including flatware. He always retained a overriding Scandinavian style to his creative work.
The original BERNADOTTE Sterling Silver Jug reflected a classic 1930's functionalism that was becoming prevalent in the modern design world. His less decorative design style reflected an appreciation for how things were going to be used in daily life. Bernadotte was always appreciated for considering modern ways to combine a beautiful form with a useful function. The vacuum jug was his his own reinterpretation and his last design piece.
Using the original sterling silver forms, this piece is skillfully crafted in stainless steel with polished chrome plating and is insulated for use with hot or cold liquids. The jug keeps liquids hot at a temperature of 150 degrees or cold to a temperature of 38 degrees for up to 12 hours.
