Launched in 2009 in six soft transparent colors, the mouth blown version of Future glass became an instant success. Maintaining the elegant flowing line, Peter Svarrer and Holmegaard have created range of Future products, some mouth blown, some machine made, to harmonize as an entire landscape, adding color to your home décor and functionality to your table.
When Peter Svarrer and Holmegaard began collaborating in 1997, it was the start of a fruitful, productive partnership that continues to develop, resulting in new shapes and colors. "When I’m working on producing new designs in glass, I always keep in mind the nature of glass itself, because it suits my mostly organic styling so well. Glass is particularly good at conveying that. What I have in mind might be quite simple, such as for the Cocoon wineglass range, where I wanted to give a sensual experience as you touch the stalk of the glass, and that’s why it has an organic shape."
Initial production at Holmegaard glassworks began in 1825. Early on, the factory produced only green bottles, but its founder Countess Henriette Danneskiold-Samsøe also wanted to produce clear glass tumblers, and the Bohemian glassblowers were able to manufacture these. A lot has happened since production at Holmegaard glassworks first began. Holmegaard has always managed to stay at the cutting edge, while also appealing to contemporary trends – down through the generations. Today, Holmegaard is both classic and modern – and most recently, we have become the recipients of the coveted Re-brand prize, for revitalising Holmegaard’s graphic identity. A lot has happened over the years, but we still share Henriette’s focus: to create glass with heart and soul, and integrity.
