Göran Hongell

Göran Hongell, (1902-1973), from Helsiniki, Finland was one of the seminal figures of Finnish glass design in the 1930s and 1940s. His most popular work, the Iittala Aarne collection, was first produced in 1949 and inspired from a design Hongell made in the 1930s. The Aarne collection represented a new post-war aesthetic of multi-functional, utilitarian pieces. In 1954 Göran Hongell�s Aarne won the gold medal at the Milan Triennale.
