  • Designed in 1978, Idéelle is an excellent example of Per Lütken’s philosophy and fundamental belief in the functionality of a drinking glass. Weight distribution should be perfect; so you never tire of holding it. The perfect mix of functionality, feeling and aesthetics is achieved, when the curved rounded edge of the glass meets the contours of your lips.
Per LütkenPer Lütken was a Danish glassmaker (1916 – 1998), most famous for his works at Holmegaard Glass Factory ("Holmegaard Glasværk" in Danish). Lütken has set his signature on the history of Danish glassmaking, designing more than 3,000 pieces of glass for Holmegaard, a company for whom he worked from 1942 and until his death in 1998. Amongst the best known series created by him are "Ideelle", "Skibsglas", "No. 5", "Selandia" and "Charlotte Amalie", all of which are still selling at high prices throughout the World. They are all regarded as design icons, and are found in many Danish homes to this day.

Initial production at Holmegaard glassworks began in 1825. Early on, the factory produced only green bottles, but its founder Countess Henriette Danneskiold-Samsøe also wanted to produce clear glass tumblers, and the Bohemian glassblowers were able to manufacture these. A lot has happened since production at Holmegaard glassworks first began. Holmegaard has always managed to stay at the cutting edge, while also appealing to contemporary trends – down through the generations. Today, Holmegaard is both classic and modern – and most recently, we have become the recipients of the coveted Re-brand prize, for revitalising Holmegaard’s graphic identity. A lot has happened over the years, but we still share Henriette’s focus: to create glass with heart and soul, and integrity.
