  • Per Lütken created Selandia in 1957 - and with it a modern classic was born. With its curved lines and organic lightness, the characteristic design possesses the essence of modern glass art, but also pushes the material to its limits using ancient glassmaking techniques. The Selandia dish is now a coveted collector's item. Not least among younger generations looking back to the elegant, retro-cool style, and this autumn it will once again be possible for all design enthusiasts to get their hands on Per Lütken’s iconic glass dish. Holmegaard is launching Selandia again in clear glass, perfectly in line with current design trends. Use Selandia as sculptural art on the table or on a shelf when strict minimalism needs softening up. Fill the attractive shape with seasonal fruit. Or put Selandia under the Christmas tree as the ultimate gift for those who like an updated version of Danish design.
Per LütkenPer Lütken was a Danish glassmaker (1916 – 1998), most famous for his works at Holmegaard Glass Factory ("Holmegaard Glasværk" in Danish). Lütken has set his signature on the history of Danish glassmaking, designing more than 3,000 pieces of glass for Holmegaard, a company for whom he worked from 1942 and until his death in 1998. Amongst the best known series created by him are "Ideelle", "Skibsglas", "No. 5", "Selandia" and "Charlotte Amalie", all of which are still selling at high prices throughout the World. They are all regarded as design icons, and are found in many Danish homes to this day.
