The Iittala Kastehelmi plate was designed by Oiva Toikka as part of the Kastehelmi collection. Kastehelmi means “dewdrop” in Finnish, and the collection is often called Iittala Dewdrop. The Dewdrop design was created in 1964 as part of a technical challenge to try and replicate the look of droplets of water on glass. Iittala reintroduced the line in 2010 in clear and apple green to celebrate Oiva Toikka’s 50th year as a designer. In 2011 Iittala introduced Kastehelmi Dewdrop in a new color, light blue.
