Exhibition poster featuring the work of Belgian artist, Pierre Alechinsky (b. 1927), printed in conjunction with Louisiana's Alechinsky exhibition, in 1969. The museum's collection includes a number of works by the artist from the 1960s and 1970s.

The abstract and the figurative go together in Alechinsky's paintings and prints, where he mixes colorful paintings with black and white ink drawings. After training as a book illustrator and typographer, Pierre Alechinsky joined the international artist association Cobra in 1949.

Here he met one of the association's three founders, the Danish artist, Asger Jorn (1914-1973), with whom Alechinsky had a close friendship until Jorn's death and which resulted in a long-standing and fruitful artistic collaboration between the two.

The Cobra movement was based on freedom, imagination and spontaneity. In their practice, the artists tried to reach the unconscious and the emotions of the human being. Therefore, they painted abstract, spontaneous and expressive paintings, where they let their imaginations and emotions run free.
