  • Specifications
Louisiana poster with the work, Red and Yellow Dahlias (1930), by the German artist, Emil Nolde (1867-1956), from Louisiana's retrospective exhibition with the artist in 2014. The exhibition presented 150 works covering the artist's entire oeuvre—paintings, watercolors , drawings and graphics—and gave an impression of Nolde's artistic development and versatile, wide-ranging life's work.

Emil Nolde is one of the most important representatives of German Expressionism, but his close association with Denmark—both biographically and geographically—also gives him a natural place in Danish art history.

Louisiana has featured Nolde several times. In 1967 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the artist's birth, and again in 1986 and in 2014. Generation after generation shows interest in Emil Nolde's work, which can be experienced, among other things, in the northern German Seebüll, where Nolde's house and garden are preserved and open for the public.
