Carina Seth-Andersson is a Swedish designer known for her distinct and unique glass and ceramic work. The forms of her pieces are minimalistic and are combined with subtle details.

For her, the design process is all about scaling down, finding the balance between simplicity and carefully thought-out details - both signature features of her design. What she finds most fascinating about Marimekko's collections is the interplay between organic forms and austere architectural patterns.

Carina designed her first pieces, including vases as well as textile prints Okko, Quilt and Mint, for Marimekko's spring/summer 2016 home collection.

When Marimekko was founded in 1951, its unparalleled designs gave it a strong and unique identity. The classic Unikko pattern was created in 1964, after Marimekko founder Armi Ratia publicly proclaimed a ban on flowers in Marimekko prints. Artist Maija Isola defied the order and designed a whole collection of floral patterns that were so fresh and unique that Armi ended up taking eight of them. One of those she accepted was Unikko, the future icon of icons.
