This large 34 cm dish is ideal to be used as a serving dish for everyday dinners and special occasions. The Blue Fluted Mega Dish is hand painted in a distinct composition of floral elements and stringent lines, which create a contemporary style against the oval shape of the dish. Blue Fluted Mega is comfortingly familiar yet surprisingly refreshing. Born from a bold reinterpretation of the iconic pattern of Blue Fluted Plain, Blue Fluted Mega captivates with graphic and magnified sections of the original mussel painted pattern. Since its creation in 2000, Blue Fluted Mega has grown to become a true, new classic in Danish design. The eye-catching collection is beautiful on its own or in combination with the Limited Edition collection Mega Rose or any other Royal Copenhagen dinner service.
Karen Kjældgård-Larsen grew up with the Blue Fluted service and had always been fascinated by it and the small differences that typify the hand-painted service and make every single piece unique.
She was only 26 years old when she first knocked on the door at Royal Copenhagen and the meeting led to the launch of Blue Fluted Mega. It was therefore also with great respect for the old service, which was the porcelain factory's first back in 1775, that the Blue Fluted Mega decoration came into being.
Selected fragments of the traditional Blue Fluted decoration are enlarged, so that beautifully sweeping lines and portions of the stylized chrysanthemum form an almost graphical whole.
The Blue Fluted Mega products have all been created on the basis of the shapes from the original Blue Fluted service of 1775.
A slight transformation
"The Blue Fluted pattern is very Danish, of high quality, expensive, nostalgic, romantic, old fashioned, etc. so if changed, but still recognized, you can actually make quite a statement."
"You only have to transform it slightly and the change will be extremely obvious. I suppose that is because the decoration is rooted in people's minds."
