The sets include two tea towels and one set also includes four placemats in a cotton-linen blend and printed in Helsinki with the Piccolo pattern. The towels have hanging loops on the long edge and a print text on the side

50% of the polyester used in the tea cozy filling is recycled.
In 1953, the very year she joined Marimekko, Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi created Piccolo, a striped fabric pattern painted with vivid brushstrokes. Three years later, the Jokapoika (every boy) shirt made from the fabric appeared in stores and the streets—for good, it seems.

Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi (b. 1930) has had a lasting impact on Marimekko's clothing design, patterns and colors. With her architectonic, clean-cut clothes, she shook up the dress codes and conventions of the 1950s and helped liberate women.
In her fabric designs, she achieved a never-before-seen sophistication in color combinations by overlapping colors during the printing process. This color overlap in print patterns has become Marimekko's signature style, which is also used by contemporary Marimekko designers.
