iittala Aalto Vases & Glass - Handmade in Finland - Design Year 1937
The Iittala Alvar Aalto Collection for Iittala is based on the Aalto Vase, one of the most iconic and enduring pieces of Finnish design. Sometimes called the Savoy Vase because it was designed by Alvar Aalto and his wife Aino Aalto for the Savoy restaurant in Helsinki, Finland, the vase was displayed at the 1937 World's Fair in Paris. The Aalto vase was originally inspired by the hem of a woman's dress of the Sami people, an indigenous people that live in northern Sweden, Finland and Norway. Available in six different sizes plus the bowl and mini-bowl (which makes a stylish business card holder), votives, trays, and serving platters, the Aalto vase comes in range of iconic colors. Each item is made of lead-free crystal and each piece is mouth-blown into original wooden molds and hand-polished by expert craftsmen in Finland.
Aalto vases have adorned homes since the mid-century while still staying fresh and current. Seasonal colors and new releases ensure there’s a vase to suit everyone’s taste. Every vase features thoughtful, timeless design so that they’re always lovely on display, even when empty. Add a floral arrangement for even more impact. From a single bloom to a large bouquet, the Aalto Collection has a perfect vase to beautifully showcase your flowers.
