The vase is made of faience in a dusty pink vase with iconic hand-painted wide and narrow stripes. It comes with beautiful wide stripes in dusty pink and the narrow stripes in brown. The colors add warmth and simplicity to the H 8.1" vase. The decorative expression of the vase has an amazing radiance and gives ceramic "feel-good" feeling to the modern living. The design duo Stilleben – Ditte Reckweg & Jelena Schou Nordentoft—belong to a new generation of designers who respect tradition, but also possess the boldness it takes to innovate. They both graduated in 2001 from the Danish Design School, having specialized in ceramics and glass, and together they run a web shop and the store Stilleben no. 22.
Ever since the Stilleben duo opened their first Stilleben store, they have fostered ideas that have resulted in new and modern design. And in addition to running their own line of Stilleben designs—including tableware, posters, furniture and accessories—the duo collaborates with internationally renowned design companies such as Kähler, Skagerak and Lyngby Porcelæn.
Today, both their store and their designs are recognized worldwide, and the duo has long since become part of modern design history with the iconic Omaggio vase in 2008, which immediately became a worldwide best-seller, and later Omaggio Nuovo, which has helped define and redefine classic Danish design of our time.
The story of Kähler begins as early as 1839, when the Dutch potter Herman J. Kähler opens a small ceramics workshop in Næstved and turns the first Kähler vase. It marks the start of a unique design adventure that will one day resonate around the world. However, it is only when his son Herman A. Kähler takes over the famous workshop in 1875 that the ceramic adventure really begins.
Craftsmanship, creativity and artistic collaborations have been part of Kähler's DNA since the beginning. And they still are. It's what has made Kähler an iconic ceramic brand, one which has charted the course of Danish ceramic design.
We create all our products based on Kähler's handmade design traditions. We've always done that—and we always will.
