The AH701 Outdoor Lounge sofa was designed by Alfred Homann in 2022 as part of the AH Outdoor series, characterized by strict lines elegantly combined with soft, rounded details. The sofa has room for two people and can be combined with a side table or other outdoor furniture from the same series. The sofa is made of FSC™-certified teak, a hardy type of wood that patinas beautifully over time.
Born in 1948, Alfred Homann was a multi-award-winning Danish architect and designer. He graduated as an architect from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 1976 and after spending some years as a student working with different Danish and American Architects, he founded his own studio in 1978 in Copenhagen—30 years old.
Simplicity, clarity, and logic were always the most important parameters for Homann, and his keen eye for details is evident in everything he designed. Homann created furniture and lighting, as well as architectural projects at museums, railway stations, private residences, and public buildings—everything with great precision and thoroughness.
In 1987, Homann established Homann Design Inc. in the United States from where he worked on different projects in addition to his Copenhagen studio. He travelled the world giving lectures and presentations in the USA, Japan, Russia, and Europe. Furthermore, Homann was acknowledged with multiple international awards during his career for both design and architecture—for example the Red Dot award, IF Product Design-Award, and a Brunel Award. Alfred Homann died in 2022, 74 years old.
Carl Hansen & Søn's products embody the narrative of the finest classical furniture art, created by some of Denmark's leading architects and designers—including Frits Henningsen, Kaare Klint, Mogens Koch, Poul Kjærholm and Ole Wanscher—as well as the Japanese architect Tadao Ando and the Austrian design trio EOOS.
