The versatile outdoor chair is made of teak and flat-weave rope, which makes it perfect for patios, terraces and gardens. The aesthetic and functional features of the outdoor variant are identical to the oak and cotton webbing original for indoor use—the difference is in the materials, which have been specially selected for open-air use as they are resistant to wind and weather. The frame is made of solid untreated FSC®-certified teak, which is highly durable due to its natural oils. Teak patinates beautifully over time, taking on a characteristic silver-gray hue which elegantly reaches out to the charcoal gray seat and back, made of water-resistant and light-resistant flat-weave rope, and the stainless steel brackets.
After working with product development and design for a number of companies, Morten Gøttler (b. 1944) opened his own design studio in 1972. He has since worked in a wide range of genres, including domestic art, packaging, toys, graphics and lighting for Danish and international companies.
In 1984, Gøttler decided to focus primarily on furniture design, using an approach rooted in the modern Scandinavian design tradition and the strong belief that innovation is the foundation for successful design. Gøttler's clean, easy aesthetic characterized by well-thought-out form, exquisite comfort, and close attention to detail are all brought to life using high-quality materials.
Carl Hansen & Søn's products embody the narrative of the finest classical furniture art, created by some of Denmark's leading architects and designers—including Frits Henningsen, Kaare Klint, Mogens Koch, Poul Kjærholm and Ole Wanscher—as well as the Japanese architect Tadao Ando and the Austrian design trio EOOS.
With solid foundations in Danish traditions of joinery, blended with deep insight into the latest production technology, we make furniture of durable beauty and value, distinguished by full respect for sustainable materials.
