Jubilæumsplakat Henry Heerup – Cobra (1966)

Anniversary poster with the work, Cobra (1966), by the Danish artist, Henry Heerup (1907-1993), from Louisiana's cobra exhibition in 1966. Together with, among others, his generational colleague, Asger Jorn (1914-1973), Heerup is richly represented in Louisiana Collection. On the trip to the museum's café, you can look out on the Heeruphaven from the glass corridor, where a large group of Heerup's imaginative granite sculptures shoot up through the grass and ivy.

The large Cobra exhibition in 1966 showed well over 200 works from the Cobra movement, which was formed in 1948 as a collaboration between Dutch, Belgian and Danish artists—including Henry Heerup.

Cobra has the imagination and the bodily gesture at the center, but manages these values ​​individually and without systematics. One way may be the world of myth, full of animals and beckoning masks, another the vitalist abstraction on the edge of chaos.
