  • Care:

    Teak Wood:

    Care & Maintenance:
As the wood is untreated, the surface will patinate and change color over time into a beautiful silvery grey. To maintain untreated wood, it is a good idea to use sandpaper (grit 120-150) once or twice a year. If you wish to preserve or intensify the original color, use suitable furniture oil on a regular basis.

    Winter Storage:
Our outdoor furniture containing untreated wood is resistant to all types of weather all year round. However, if possible, we recommend storing the furniture in an unheated room during the winter months.

    Cleaning & Stain Removal:
Do a general cleaning when needed with a suitable wood cleaner and soft bristle brush. Rinse afterwards with water and let it dry for 24 hours. The Teak wood used for our outdoor furniture is resistant to everyday wind and weather with or without treatment due to the high content of natural oils. Stains can be removed with mild bleach, water and a soft cloth.

    CAUTION
As the wood is untreated, it may be affected by grease and colorants. Also, minor cracks can appear over time due to changes in the living natural wood. For tables, remember to retighten the table's mounting bolts from time to time.

    Outdoor Textile:

    Care & Maintenance:
Wipe the textile with a firmly wrung cloth.

    Cleaning & Stain Removal:
For stubborn stains, remove the upholstery and machine wash it at 86°F. If the upholstery is not removable, the textile must only be washed with a wrung cloth.

    CAUTION
Sharp objects can scratch, and damage textiles.

  • Material:
    • Wood: Solid FSC™-certified Teak.
New wooden, teak furniture has natural color differences found in the freshly cut wood. Once the furniture has been exposed to the sun, these color differences will even out.
As a natural part of the aging process, the surface of teak will change when first being exposed to rain and sunlight; this is the first stage of a process of wood that ages with beauty.
    • Cushion: Outdoor textile, Quickdry Outdoor Foam.
The Quickdry outdoor foam provides a firm and comfortable seat that retains its shape year after year.
The open-cell structure allows both water and air to pass through ensuring the cushion dries exceptionally quickly, even after a heavy downpour. To ensure cushions remain beautiful over time, it is good practice to avoid them being left wet for prolonged periods, e.g., by turning them upright to let water run off or storing them in a dry environment.
    • Upholstery: Oeko-Tex certified and extremely color and lightfast, water and dirt-repellent and even mildewresistant.

Skagerak by FRITZ HANSEN

Skagerak by FRITZ HANSEN is based on the love of wood, proud traditions of craftsmanship and respect for the sea and for the history of seafaring. The values and traditions absorbed from these sources have been crucial in all my family's endeavors, even as far back as the 19th century, when my great-great grandfather, Soren Mollebygger, built the first sawmills for sawing and working up the flotsam and jetsam of the shipwrecks, all too frequent at that time, on Skagen Odde. These raw materials provided the basis for the joinery skills for which Skagen is widely known and which live on in Denmark's carpentry traditions. Skagerak by FRITZ HANSEN is the product of generations of our family's passion for wood and it all began with driftwood.
